God's Guidelines for Conflict Resolution

"If another believer sins against you, go privately and point out the fault. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back. Matthew 18:15

"First get rid of the log from your own eye; then perhaps you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend's eye." Matthew 7:5

"Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into Him who is the Head, that is, Christ." Ephesians 4:15

If someone offends me, I will:

  1. Review my own faults first
  2. Do my best to assume the best
  3. Form my opinion slowly

Before I speak or act, I will ask:

  1. Have I given this enough time?
  2. Do I have all the facts?
  3. Is this person a villain or a victim?

If this offense directly involves me & if it needs to be resolved, then I will:

  1. Go to the offending person ONLY (Matt. 18:15)
  2. Ask questions before making accusations
  3. Speak the truth in love about the issue and the way it has affected me. (Eph 4:5)
